Previous alumni project
Integrated
Integrated is a biennial international conference organised by Sint Lucas Antwerpen in collaboration with deSingel international arts campus, ARIA (Antwerp Research Institute of the Arts), the University of Antwerp, the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp and Valiz Amsterdam.
The conference highlights the changing positions of designers, visual and performing artists, architects and scientists and examines how they can be the connecting actors in this restless and complex society. The conference aims to stimulate the development of new practices that, from political, social and environmental motives, create connections as a fundamental contribution to our society and the creative community. Integrated invites leading international artists, designers, architects, scientists, politicians and activists who offer us a radically different view of the world and of our future. Schools from around Europe participate with their students and teachers.
ChampdAction.LAbO
ChampdAction.LAbO is a laboratory for young creators, organized by Antwerp-based production platform for new music and interdisciplinary arts ChampdAction, in direct partnership with Sint Lucas Antwerpen. Its main purpose is creation through means of communication and interaction between the various arts disciplines: dance, music, fine arts and others, with a strong focus on interdisciplinarity and the use of new technology.
Besides the participation of 7 or our own students and alumni, we also invited each time 4 students from three of our partners schools: the Arts department of Concordia University, Montreal, Lasalle College of Arts, Singapore and from Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam.
Suomussalmi
For this project, we joined forces with the Finnish municipality of Suomussalmi and the Department of Art & Design of Aalto University. Eight alumni travelled to Suomassalmi, a small village near the Russian border, for a workshop. There they worked with a number of Aalto alumni on a proposal for a new monument in memory of the Winter War.
Buzzkruit
For BUZZKRUIT, we worked together with Antwerp Powered by Creatives, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and the Product Development Department of the University of Antwerp. During Us By Night, we played matchmaker for companies and ambitious creative talents: graphic designers, PR wonders, product developers, web designers, interior designers, architects, multimedia and other media experts, innovation strategists and other miracle-makers.
Exploring New Worlds
Five of our former Photography students got the opportunity to present their work during the BredaPhoto Festival. In the great company of five alumni from Ringling College of Art & Design, Sarasota, Florida. A unique and international platform and meeting point. Exploring New Worlds came about in collaboration with ELEKTRON – Breda Platform for Art & Design (Platform voor Kunst & Vormgeving Breda) and BredaPhoto.
Art-Design-Technology
Ten recently graduated master’s students displayed their work at a large exhibition project in Wuhan, China. For this, in addition to 10 of their own alumni, St Lucas School of Arts Antwerp also invited 10 artists from three international partner art university colleges. A collaboration with Creative City Wuhan, Nottingham College of Art & Design, Edinburgh College of Art & Willem De Kooning Academy Rotterdam.
